An antique ornately framed relicario made of base metal in silver tone. This is not a pendant but a reliquary case with a holy relic of St. Sabina. It features a gold cord, red fabric with the name “Sabina” in the middle.
I was so excited when I saw this in a flea market in Seville, Spain. Before that, I’ve only seen relicarios like this in books. Portugal, Spain and their former colonies such as the Philippines valued these religious mementos as a form of protection or as a symbol of faith.
It’s in good condition, with a bit of weight and I love that the wax seal at the back is still secure. This is estimated to be from the 19th century.
